ABOUT THE JOB

General objective:

The construction supervisor will assist the team in preparing assessments for IS sites that include latrine construction and rehabilitation. He will also be responsible for logging his data in SI specific forms and report to the Activity Manager.

Assess the applicability of water and waste water treatment solutions in specific sites.

Supervise relevant ongoing works and insure the quality of works.

The main challenges:

  • Construction sites may be difficult to maintain and enter due to the high density of tents.
  • The construction supervisor should be able to supervise several sites at the same time.
  • Work alternates between sites and office data entry

Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

  • Getting familiar with SI system and methods of work.
  • Supporting the team in the activities

Responsibilities and main activities:

WASH Activities:

Take part in the distribution and/or installation of WASH items, namely water tanks, latrines, or others;

Identify the needs for latrines, toilets, bathrooms or water supply and wastewater system rehabilitation or construction;

Specify the work to be performed, partake in the contractor selection process and supervise the work to ensure that Solidarités International standards are respected and that the construction works is completed on time;

Ensure the proper filling of Bill of Quantities (BoQ), Scope of Works (SoW), and contracts.

Reporting:

Report your activities to the WASH Activity Manager and update the relevant formats and databases for the construction activities

Report any type of problem encountered on the field.              

Others:

Take an active part on all related WASH activities such as assessment, monitoring, activity follow up, etc.;

In case of emergency situation, team could be reorganized depending on field needs and construction supervisor could be asked to handle different humanitarian related tasks.

The Construction Supervisor will be asked to drive SI cars and respecting the driving policies set by the logistic department. The above list is a non-exhaustive one, nor limitative. You could be asked other responsibilities and tasks within the framework of your job on demand of the direct line manager.

YOUR PROFILE

Specific skills and experience:

  • University degree in Civil Engineer or equivalent degree.
  • Professional experience & Hard skills: Experience in Construction.
  • Skills in AutoCAD Program
