ABOUT THE JOB
General objective:
Under the supervision of the WASH Activity Manager, the Construction Supervisor is in charge of supervising the construction activities for the WASH components of the program, ensure the safety of workers/beneficiaries, report the complete construction activity to the WASH Activity Manager and collect data on the completed work for final reports.

Priorities for the first period:
- To understand the whole BOQ-IOF process
- To understand tasks and responsibilities
- To understand the rules and procedures
- To integrate with the team and coordinate with the new AM
RESPONSIBILITIES & MAIN ACTIVITIES
WASH Activities:
- Take part in the distribution and/or installation of WASH items, namely water tanks, latrines, or others;
- Identify the needs for latrines, toilets, bathrooms or water supply and wastewater system rehabilitation or construction;
- Specify the work to be performed, partake in the Contractor selection process and supervise the work to ensure that Solidarités International standards are respected and that the construction works is completed on time;
- Ensure the proper filling of Bill of Quantities (BoQ), Scope of Works (SoW), and contracts.
Reporting:
- Report your activities to the WASH Activity Manager;
- Report the construction progress to your management and update the relevant formats and databases for the construction activities;
- Report any type of problem encountered on the field.
Others:
- Take an active part on all related WASH activities such as assessment, monitoring, activity follow up, etc.;
- In case of emergency situation, team could be reorganized depending on field needs and construction supervisor could be asked to handle different humanitarian related tasks.
YOUR PROFILE
Specific skills and experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Experience: 1 year of professional experience in site supervision
- Ability to conduct several site visits and manage several sites simultaneously
- Previous knowledge in surveying is an added value
- Previous experience in a similar role is an added value
- Good software skills (AutoCAD, Excel, Word)
- Previous experience with NGO is an asset
- Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess challenges and recommend solutions
Soft skills:
- Good diplomacy skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible (will have to take on responsibilities that might not be directly on his/her JD)
- Good team player
- Stress management skills: ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, with peaks of heavy workloads;
Language:
- Fluent English and Arabic: speaking, reading and writing skills
