Finance Officer

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

Solidarités International (SI) is an international NGO working with vulnerable populations, mainly victims of armed conflicts, other man-made crises, and natural disasters. Specialized for more than 40 years in the coverage of vital needs, SI takes charge of emergency, early recovery, and reconstruction programs.

Solidarités International's teams, made up of around 270 expatriates and nearly 2,200 local employees, are today present in 18 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Americas where they are particularly committed to fighting diseases related to unsafe water and poor hygiene conditions but also in the essential area of food security, livelihoods and basic assistance.

 

ABOUT THE JOB:

General objective:

The Finance Officer ensures that the cash box and cash books are appropriately maintained, and financial transactions are recorded in accounting software (SAGA) on timely manner. Finance Officer will also ensure proper physical and digital archiving of finance vouchers/documents on regular basis.

This position is direct responsible of safety and security of cash box.

The main challenges:

  • communication/coordination within the base

Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

  • prepare the accountancy archiving for the base
  • support on the cash/bank payment of the base

Responsibilities and main activities:

  • Prepare cash forecast for the financial needs of each month in consultation with the Finance manager and Finance Assistant.
  • In coordination with logistic department manage the payment of regular monthly costs (i.e., generator, building charges, water gallons, office supplies)
  • Prepare all financial documents for routine payments (i.e., Per diem, allowances), receipts of payments and verify accuracy of documents in accordance with SI procedures
  • Carry out withdrawals from bank and payment of advances, in accordance with established procedures
  • Keep the advance books and cash journal updated
  • Record budget allocations and accounting codes of the expenses
  • Before recording, check that the supporting documents complies with Solidarités International procedures
  • Ensure that accounting documenting are translated, if necessary
  • Ensure appropriate processing of vouchers at base level
  • Convert currencies upon line manager’s request
  • Check cash balances on daily basis and report discrepancies to the line manager if any
  • Archive accounting documents in accordance with Solidarités International procedures, after a final check of supporting documentation
  • Collect all the archives from each base and check all the received folders
  • Ensure cash box security and confidentiality of information

YOUR PROFILE

Education:

A university degree or equivalent in business administration or other related fields-Required

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or other related fields

Good knowledge of accounting practice, policies and procedures

Knowledge of saga accounting System-Preferred

Previous experience working with NGO-Preferred

Skills & Competencies;

Good written and spoken communication skills

Commitment to knowledge transfer and capacity building of colleagues and partners

Proven organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and perform under pressure

Capacity to work autonomously and in problem prevention/resolution

Languages:

Fluently spoken and written Arabic and good command in English

 

SI WILL OFFER YOU

 

A salaried post:  1325 USD as a monthly basic salary

 

Vacation: 1.5 days/month
