Hygiene Promotor

I. General conditions:  SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian organization which provides aid and assistance to victims of war or natural disaster. For over 30 years the association has focused on addressing three vital needs - water, food and shelter.   Responding to the most essential needs of the populations affected by the Syrian crisis, SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL intends to improve their living conditions and enhance their livelihood. Thus, SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is currently running a program in Minieh-Denniyeh and Zgharta districts in North Lebanon aiming at : -          supporting newcomers with non-food items and food parcels -          providing assistance to most vulnerable households to cover their basic needs -          addressing WASH and Shelter through interventions aiming at improving  access to safe water, hygiene materials, appropriate sanitation facilities and enhancing weatherproofing and site conditions of households living in informal settlements and collective shelters.       Responsibilities:   General responsibilities To mobilize the communities by explaining the benefits of our humanitarian action and encourage children’s participation in hygiene promotion sessions; Be an ACTIVE partner of the Hygiene Promotion program and be inventive in your work. Action-related Responsibilities Conduct assessments and surveys in the field to understand vulnerable families’ practices and knowledge related to hygiene, and to identify their most pressing needs Conduct hygiene promotion sessions in the field Report your activities to the management Represent SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL and its Hygiene Promotion activities when necessary (during meetings, or in other Solidarites programs) Maintain an accurate reporting and data management of your activities. Task Description: Community Mobilization Inform the community about SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL’s activities and answer any question related to the organization and the program; Be aware of the evolving needs of the refugee population in the intervention area and report any information related to changes in the health and hygiene conditions of the refugee population; Encourage community involvement through finding innovative ideas;   Community Surveys (needs assessment, HH registration, KAP survey, health data collection…) Conduct household surveys in order to identify newcomers and new participants to the Hygiene Promotion sessions Take part in the identification of beneficiaries for the WASH activities (Toilet construction / rehabilitation, distribution of water tanks and water filters, distribution of hygiene kits) Conduct Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) surveys related to Hygiene and provide inputs for the development of the questionnaires and methodology  Enter data in the Analysis Software / database   Hygiene Promotion Sessions and Distribution Provide inputs for the development of the Hygiene Promotion modules, in collaboration with the WASH Program Manager and deputy Program Manager Manage HP session in schools, Refugees’ households, distribution points… Promote Hygiene to children to help them acquire safer hygiene behaviours Take part in the distribution of Hygiene Kits and WASH items (water filters and water tanks) for the beneficiary population; during the distributions, provide guidance for the safe utilization of the distributed items Create inventive ways of disseminating messages (by songs, short plays, public advocacy…)   Reporting Keep an updated attendance sheet for the hygiene promotion sessions Report your activities to your management Collect health data from various sources (municipalities, hospitals, clinics, health NGOs, etc.) in order to keep a record of the health situation in the area of intervention   The above list is a non exhaustive one, nor limitative. You could be asked other responsibilities and tasks within the framework of your job on demand of both the WASH Program Manager and deputy Program Manager.   Candidate’s profile:   Background in social work, protection, psychosocial or equivalent field Previous experience in humanitarian field preferable. Spoken English or French desirable   V. Working hours:   The normal working hours – From Monday to Friday - are: from 8 :00 am to 5:00 pm with one hour break  = Total of 40 hours a week. However, according to the Lebanon law, you may be asked to work 48 hours a week. Therefore, you can be asked by your management to ensure extra work during the week or on Saturday.   Starting date: immediately
