ABOUT THE JOB
General objective:
This position is opened in the framework of the ECHO-funded project "Bayt Amen III": integrated Shelter/WaSH for Protection response to refugees' acute unmet needs and sudden needs related to shocks in North Lebanon.
The overall objective of this position is to ensure the effective integration of protection principles throughout the project cycle and to contribute to the achievement of protection and sectoral (Wash/Shelter) outcomes. It thus aims to contribute to the overall quality of the project and to participate in the improvement of Solidarités International's practices.
The main challenges:
- This is a job creation: the person selected will have to be able to integrate into the team and work in a spirit of collaboration, both with SI teams and with partners.
- The project is conducted in close collaboration with protection partners. However, it is not a formal consortium: it is essential that the applicant demonstrate diplomacy and good coordination skills in order to ensure effective partnerships.
- The project rely mainly on direct referrals from protection partners, it is essential that the applicant have high communication skills to encourage the protection partners to send referrals to SI.
Priorities for the 2/3 first months:
- Contact protection partners and create a close and trusting relationship
- Carry out an evaluation of protection mainstreaming practices and establish a clear action plan
- Identify internal protection related training needs and develop an adequate training plan.
- Participate in the revision of the rapid assessment tool
- Attend the protection working-group meetings.
- Follow-up the implementation of the signed MOU with protection partner.
Responsibilities and main activities:
The Protection Activity Manager will be responsible for:
1. Strengthening the technical capacities of the project teams to ensure the integration and implementation of protection standards and mainstreaming protection in all activities.
2. Reinforce coordination and common dynamics, in particular with the project's protection partners.
Main activities:
- Ensure internal capacity building on protection-related themes
- Ensure an effective & quality referral system to and from protection actors
- Ensure the mainstreaming of protection in all assessment exercises.
- Participate in the use and updating of the MSNA tools.
- Contribute to quality reporting
- Participate in external coordination efforts (coordination with protection partners, participation in relevant external meetings)
- Contribute to institutional knowledge building and learning initiatives and processes
- Support the development of communication and reporting tools, so that they respect the protection principles, and in particular, the dignity of the people affected.
YOUR PROFILE
Specific skills and experience:
University degree in social work, psychology or other related fields
Prior experience in a similar position
Experience in strengthening and monitoring a referral system
Experience in team building and providing technical oversight to ensure program quality
Experience in external coordination / consortium
Familiarity with international protection and human rights legal standards
Command of the main concepts and tools of protection and protection mainstreaming
Command of the Washington Group Short Set of Questions.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of North Lebanon specific context
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Report writing ability;
Computer/IT literacy (Microsoft Office suite, etc)
Excellent communication skills.
