Site Mapping Officer

MISSION   Goal / Purpose: Under the supervision of the Site Mapping team leader, the Site Mapping officer will carry out the identification of informal settlements in Akkar district, and collect accurate, updated and reliable information about the sites. The gathered data contributes to the monthly IAMP distributed by UNHCR that facilitates the planning and coordination of the humanitarian response nation-wide.   RESPONSABILITIES   General responsibilities  Regular mapping of informal settlements in Akkar district.   Action-related Responsibilities   Ensure the identification of all informal settlements in the area of implementation.   Communicate with stakeholders.   Conduct assessments for previously identified informal settlements on a bi-monthly basis.   Report the activities to the site mapping team leader on a daily basis.   Maintain an accurate reporting and data management of your activities.   Represent SI when necessary (on field, during meetings, or in other SI programs).   TASKS   Identification of Informal settlements in Akkar  Establish a network of focal points for the referral of new sites.  Follow up on hotline and interagency referrals of new informal settlements.   Communication with stakeholders  Introduce the IS mapping to the targeted community and other stakeholders.  Establish focal points for the activity in all the informal settlements.   Data collection  Conduct a paper survey including data about the site location, population and contact information.  Conduct a computer based survey on “ArcGIS-collector” which requires an establishment of the site’s location on the application, and the attribution of the data collected.   Follow up   Ensure that the name and code assigned to the site through the mapping are visible for all stakeholders.   Engage in internal and external referral systems.   Inform the community about SI activities and answer any question related to the organization and the program,  directing those concerned to appropriate agencies or the Hotline as appropriate.   Reporting  Reporting on the progress of activities and challenges faced to the site mapping team leader on a daily basis.  Input the data collected for each site into an excel database.   The above list is non-exhaustive and may be extended to include reasonable tasks and responsibilities within the framework of the project at the request of the Basic assistance Program Manager or Site mapping Team Leader.   CANDIDATE PROFILE     Previous experience in the humanitarian field   Knowledge of the implementation zone Akkar   Strong social and communication skills   Basic understanding of English (Proficiency in English is an added value)   Comfortable in using tablets and android applications   Confortable in using excel   Knowledge on the use of maps   Interest in WaSH (Technical knowledge is an added skill)   Driving license   ORGANIZATIONAL CHART POSITION Reporting and functional relationships   Line manager: Basic Assistance - Site Mapping Team leader
