Background
SONBOLA For Education & Development (SONBOLA) is a start-up grassroots apolitical NGO that started piloting its educational programs in Spring 2014 in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon. It was officially launched in Fall 2014 and acquired its official registration in October 2015 in Lebanon.
The position of Education Manager in an Education NGO is a senior position and vital in terms of setting the stone for establishing a viable and sustainable learning model. The Education Manager holds many responsibilities that are essential in assessing and maintaining the quality of delivery which requires pertinent knowledge and skills in order to set up a solid system that can measure the outcomes of the NGO’s programs and activities that leads to creating a theory of change. The job of Sonbola’s Education Manager is directly related to teaching and learning activities through ensuring their accurate implementation, designing and organizing programs and activities, helping in fundraising and supervising education staff. The Education Manager needs also to conduct field trips to monitor and assess the delivery of the programs, work with teachers on their lesson plans and other teaching duties. He/She will have to mentor junior staff and empower more senior staff.
The Education Manager performs the following tasks in most accurate and timely manner:
Managing curriculum development
Conducting research
Liaising with the Director and teachers
Developing educational activities and programs
Work on teachers’ training and capacity building
Ensuring Interactive Learning Approach
Monitoring and Evaluating teachers performance
Preparing budgets for educational programs and proposals
Assisting in designing the communication strategy for Educational Messages
Submitting regular reports and ensuring data collection for the Management
Developing an education strategy based on outcomes and research findings
The Education Manager should demonstrate competence in the following knowledge, skills:
Knowledge & abilities:
Knowledge and/or experience in Non-Profit organizations;
Excellent knowledge of local policies and legislations relevant to Education both in Formal and Non-Formal Education;
Work experience in the field of Education (no less than 7 years)
Knowledge and empathy to the Syria crisis overall and to the Education Crisis of Syrian refugees in Lebanon in particular;
Expertise in education evaluation and assessment
Knowledge of project management
