Senior Program Developer

The position of the Senior Program Developer is crucial in terms of leadership and management and holds many responsibilities that are essential in maintaining the sustainability of the organization. Additionally, this position requires the following: 

a) High level of commitment and passion towards the mission of the organization; 

b) Flexibility and willingness to spend longer hours as work necessitates 

c) Strong ability to work under pressure and within challenging circumstances. 

 

On the other hand, this position offers great opportunities for learning, growth and ownership, as well as an opportunity for creating impact and change making.  

 

I. The following four core areas represent the duties and responsibilities of the Senior program developer;  

1. Leadership

  • Contribute in strengthening internal capacities and internal systemto keep the Board informed of internal and external issues that affect the organization
  • Contribute in fostering strong team work and excellent relationship with donors
  • Represent the organization, when necessary,at official and non-official meetings and various encounters with stakeholders, donors and communities 

2. Management 

2.1. Structural & Operational Planning and Management

  • Co-lead on the operation of the organization and ensure that meeting the expectations of its Board, partners, donors and beneficiaries.

2.2. Programs Planning and Reporting

  • Co-lead in overseeing the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization’s programs and activities to ensure they comply with the organization objectives and reflect the agreed priorities.
  • Take part in the daily monitoring of the programs' delivery through the organization's internal monitoring systems and contribute in improving M&E system, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure timely and quality reporting to all the donors 

2.3. Fundraising and Financial Management 

  • Write funding proposals to identified and appropriate funding sources
  • Ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed
  • Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization
  • Provide higher management with monthly reports on the work progress including financials
  • Ensure that the organization complies with all legislation covering taxation and auditing. 2.4. Risk assessment and management
  • Identify and evaluate the risks faced by the organization and propose accordingly solutions and procedures to implement them upon the Board’s approval in order to reduce those risks or alleviate their effect on the organization.   

3. Human Resources

  • Contribute in HR improvement and assessment
  • Active role in establishing a positive, empowering and proactive environment and a culture of work of excellence and collegiality among all staff
  • Recruit and support the staff members that have the right technical and personal abilities to help in achieving the mission of the organization

4. Public Relations/Advocacy

  • Work towards enhancing the visibility and the reputation of the organization among all stakeholders and beneficiaries. 
  • Establish excellent working and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders engaged in the sector of education and development as well as with donors, private sector and community groups in order to help achieve the goals and mission of the organization.  

 

II. The program developer should demonstrate competence in the following knowledge, skills: 

1. Knowledge & abilities

  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit organizations; 
  • Knowledge and empathy to the Syria crisis overall and to the Education Crisis of Syrian refugees in Lebanon in particular; 
  • Knowledge of financial management
  • Knowledge of project management
