We are seeking full time Driver for the emergency response project dedicated to Syrian refugee children at risk in Lebanon. This post is based in the Bekaa region.
We are looking for a dynamic person who can work on the field, handle a big responsibility, has experience with child safeguarding* (preferably in emergencies).
*Child safeguarding includes all activities that the organisation undertakes to ensure that its co-workers, operations, and programmes do no harm to children and do not expose them to the risk of harm and abuse; appropriate responses and effective management of child safeguarding concerns are in place; any concerns the organisation has about children’s safety in its own programmes and within the communities they work in are reported to the appropriate authorities.
Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
Driving;
- To drive at a safe and legal speed as requested by Logistics & Security officer.
- To wear a seat belt and ensure that passengers in the front seats also wear their seat belts at all times.
- To immediately notify manager as well as the local authorities of any accident in which the vehicle is involved.
- Report any security related issues to the security focal point.
General
- Have good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment.
- Understands and follows all traffic rules and regulations
- To ensure correct loading and unloading of the vehicle.
- To keep the vehicle clean and road-worthy, re-fuel and ensure that the tank never falls below half tank capacity. This includes daily and weekly checks.
- To complete the vehicle log book, and ensure tools and spare parts, first aid kit and spare tire(s) are kept in the vehicle and are in good condition.
- To make sure all necessary vehicle documents (e.g. insurance, registration documents, etc.) are present in the vehicle and up to date.
- To immediately report any technical failure, damage or need for maintenance to the manager, and note details in the vehicle log book.
- To keep track of the scheduled service time of the vehicle, to make sure that servicing is performed on time.
- To assist in small local purchases and general logistic activities
- To represent SOS Children’s Villages Lebanon in a respectful and professional manner and always act in accordance with SOS Children’s Villages Lebanon Code of Conduct.
Essential Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge
- Valid Public driving license, sound driving skills and experience
- Sufficient written and spoken English
- Excellent written and spoken Arabic
- Basic servicing and maintenance skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to work long hours.
- Participate in internal work meetings and inform the EiE team on log issues.

He/she should have a professional manner, possess good interpersonal skills and a very strong work ethic. He/she is very emphatic, honest and possess the ability to convince people.
