Psychiatrist Khenshara, Metn region, Lebanon We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical services for unaccompanied or separated refugee children who have fled the current war in Syria. The need is initially for six months, with the possibility of extension. This post is based at the Temporary shelter/Community centre of Khenshara, in the Metn region in Mount Lebanon (30 km north east of Beirut). The Psychiatrist will work closely with the Centre Manager and other experts to provide fully support for Syrian children at risk and their caregivers to overcome traumas of the war and accompany them in a transitional phase waiting to be referred to a more permanent care setting. She/he works in good collaboration with other departments, and reports the activity of its service. Our work in Khenchara is generously funded by the Hermann-Gmeiner-Fonds Deutschland. This post will appeal to those with a passion for helping children. You will bring experience of clinical services in Lebanon, preferably with Syrian refugees and have expertise in the rehabilitation sector with additional knowledge and practice in child development. You will be familiar with and keen to interact with colleagues from the public health services sector and other NGOs. Responsibilities of the Psychiatrist: Providing clinical services with psychiatric consultations managing post trauma victims in the Khenshara Centre; Prescribing relevant treatment based on international and national guidelines and protocols; Working in patient referral systems with other local structures if necessary; Possibly visiting other places where patient could be refer to us; Performing work by using, developing and /or improving the necessary work tools; Ensuring good respect of confidentiality related to patients; Ensuring quality clinical follow-up and if necessary referring to other health facilities; Preparing orders for medical supplies; Identifying new needs, in terms of drugs; Working in collaboration with other departments; Collecting data from all activities and health indicators, monitoring, analysis and reporting; Attending training sessions related to the subject of work and the post; Personal Specifications: Must be qualified psychiatrist or medical intern with six semesters Psychiatry validation; Valid license to practice in Lebanon; Good knowledge of clinical management of post trauma victims and especially children; Experience in dealing with the Syrian community; Experience in dealing with national and international partners (NGOs, UNHCR, UNICEF, etc.); Excellent command of Arabic and English or French. Personal Attributes: Talent for dealing with children from a pedagogical point of view through patience and active listening - giving full attention to what children are saying, taking time to analyze and understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times; Social perceptiveness - being aware of children reactions understanding why they react as they do and means of communication such as children’s drawings; Critical thinking - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems; Organization skills, self-disciplined, flexibility; A high interest and passion for working in the rehabilitation sector with children; Comfortable working in an international environment and cross culturally; Ability to work under pressure; Ability to work as a team player, share knowledge widely, build relationships and partnerships; Ability to work with current technology such as Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook; Driving License and willingness to travel within Lebanon following security matters.
