Psychologist for SOS Children's Village in Kfarhay- Batroun

SOS Children's Villages Lebanon is looking for a psychologist to provide specialized psychosocial support to children and caregivers during the transition period, ensuring a child-centered, trauma-informed approach at all times.

Roles and responsibilities:

 

  1. Psychosocial Support to Children
    • Conduct individual psychosocial assessments to identify emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of children.
    • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to support children through the transition process.
    • Support children in developing coping mechanisms, emotional regulation, and resilience.
    • Ensure all interventions are child-centered and trauma-informed, minimizing distress and re-traumatization.

 

  1. Transition Support
    • Support the emotional preparation of children for transition (integration, reunification)
    • Monitor children’s adjustment and well-being throughout the transition period and adapt interventions accordingly.
  2. Case Management Coordination
    • Work in close coordination with social worker and pedagogical team to ensure integrated case management.
    • Contribute to case discussions and planning meetings.
  3. Support to Caregivers and staff
    • Provide guidance to caregivers and staff on managing children’s behaviors and emotional needs.
    • Support staff in applying a trauma-informed and child-sensitive approach in daily interactions.
    • Participate in regular meetings with the centre team to discuss cases and provide recommendations.
  4. Safeguarding and Compliance
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, in line with SOS Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy.
    • Immediately report any safeguarding concerns through established channels.
    • Act in accordance with the SOS Code of Conduct and safeguarding principles.

This position involves working with an NGO committed to children and human rights and is subject to strict safer recruitment checks. The successful candidate will be required to complete safer recruitment checks including criminal record and reference checks to help verify their suitability to work for SOS Children’s Villages. In addition to assessing candidates' ability to perform the duties of the post, in  the selection process will be also explored the motivation and approach of the candidate to safeguarding.
