Logistics Officer

As a Logistics Officer for our community kitchen project, you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth operations by managing the logistical aspects of the project. You will be responsible for coordinating procurement, inventory management, transportation, and distribution of goods to support the functioning of the community kitchen. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

1. Procurement:

Under the direct supervision of the project manager:

  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders in a timely manner to maintain adequate stock levels following approval of program manager
  • Receive all deliveries in accordance to the delivery notes
  • Verify that the goods delivered are according to the delivery note; immediately inform the program manager in case of any discrepancy

2. Inventory Control:

  • Conduct monthly inventory audits to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies or ad-hoc spot checks as needed
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to forecast demand and ensure sufficient inventory is available to meet project requirements
  • Ensure that all the products are well stored according to food safety standards

3. Transportation Coordination and distribution management:

  • Arrange transportation of goods from suppliers to the project site, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate logistics for distribution of food supplies and equipment to various locations within the community for the beneficiaries.
  • Manage transportation schedules and resolve any issues or delays that may arise during transit.
  • Oversee the distribution process to ensure efficient allocation of resources and timely delivery of meals to beneficiaries.
  • Work closely with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and distribution schedules
  • Monitor distribution activities to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures as needed.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, and distribution activities.
  • Maintain log sheet for Tuk Tuk deliveries according to the guidelines and templates provided by the project manager
  • Provide regular updates to project management team regarding logistics status, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Computer literate (excel, word, PPT)
  • Good command of English and Arabic
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, inventory control, and transportation logistics.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for inventory management and data analysis.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work outside regular hours when necessary.
