Working Conditions:
- Duty stations: Field-based (community kitchens, distribution sites, and SBT operational areas)
- Working schedule: Flexible, including weekends and extended hours based on emergency needs
- Mobility: Regular field visits required across targeted locations
- Environment: High-pressure emergency context requiring rapid response and adaptability
Reporting:
Reports directly to: Field Coordinator in Saida and Mount Lebanon.
Technical coordination with: MEAL Unit and Operations
Works closely with: Kitchen supervisors, cash workers, and volunteers
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards (HACCP) across all food handling processes
- Monitor adherence to Sphere standards in food assistance interventions
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchens, storage, and distribution sites
- Establish and monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) in food preparation and distribution
B. Program Implementation Support
- Support planning and implementation of food assistance activities
- Ensure safe food handling, storage, preparation, and distribution practices
- Validate food supply chains and vendor compliance
C. Capacity Building
- Train staff, volunteers, and kitchen cash workers on:
- Food safety and hygiene practices
- Personal hygiene and sanitation
- Safe storage and handling procedures
- Develop simplified SOPs and guidelines for field teams
D. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation
- Develop and apply food safety monitoring tools and checklists
- Conduct regular field monitoring visits and produce reports
- Identify risks and provide corrective action recommendations
- Support MEAL in integrating food safety indicators
E. Coordination & Compliance
- Coordinate with relevant sectors (Food Security, Health, Protection where relevant)
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and national regulations
- Support audit readiness and documentation
