Job Description :
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor all food security-related activities within the project.
- Ensure fair, transparent, and accountable distribution of food to beneficiaries.
- Assess and report on local food availability, nutritional needs, and market trends.
- Work with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of food items.
- Develop, implement, and monitor food safety protocols in line with national and international standards.
- Oversee proper food handling, storage, and preparation to prevent contamination.
- Ensure kitchens and food preparation areas are clean, well-maintained, and pest-free.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of kitchen and storage facilities.
- Implement and monitor kitchen safety procedures, including safe equipment use and fire prevention.
- Train staff and volunteers on kitchen safety practices and emergency protocols.
- Ensure proper maintenance and servicing of kitchen equipment.
- Monitor waste management and promote environmentally friendly disposal methods
- Provide training for staff, volunteers, and community members on nutrition, food safety, and hygiene.
- Develop and disseminate relevant materials on food and kitchen safety.
- Raise awareness among beneficiaries about safe food preparation at the household level.
- Work closely with the procurement, logistics, and M&E teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain accurate records of food stock, distributions, and inspections.
- Submit regular reports on food security status, safety compliance, and incidents.
- Submit regular narrative and financial reports on food security status, safety compliance, and incidents to the Project Manager upon time frame request
Implement info sessions, the outreach process, and the assessments and needs aplications of volunteers, beneficiaries, and kitchen workers
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Public Health, Agriculture, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant field experience in food security, food safety, or humanitarian food programs.
- The Field Officer must have a valid driving license and their car available for work-related travel
- Knowledge of international food safety standards
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in challenging and multicultural environments.
- Fluency in Arabic and good command of English.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Experience in kitchen safety management and food distribution systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
