Country Manager - Lebanon

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

 

The responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Implement the Country Programme in Lebanon in line with the annual work plans and donor requirements.
  • Manage the national staff and monitors and assists them in developing their personal work plans and achieving their individual targets.
  • Establish and maintains relationships with relevant stakeholders, and cooperation and government partners.
  • Ensure smooth progress of organisational, financial and logistical matters linked to the project and related missions and activities in the country.
  • Ensure budget adherence and project documentation according to internal procedures and donor requirements.
  • Provide the Regional Office with required quarterly reports, final draft documentation on strategy and programmes, such as a country strategy, proposals and reports to back donors.
  • Represent SPARK and the Lebanon Programme in different stakeholders meetings.
  • To manage relations with donors, government representatives, UN and embassies in the country.
  • Maintains an on-going awareness of the operating environment in-country and identifies particular needs in the development sector that fit with SPARK core competencies
  • Leads, designs, and analyses needs assessments and identifies relevant programmatic interventions on behalf of SPARK
  • Ensure a Security Plan for the office is in place.
  • Work in compliance with SPARK policies and procedures.
  • Other tasks when required.

 

 

 

 

Requirements and Skills

 

  • Academic background in humanitarian or development studies, political science or social studies;
  • Background in education desirable;
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in humanitarian and/or development aid;
  • Experience with large multi-donor development programmes;
  • Experience in managing teams;
  • Fluency in Arabic and English;
  • Eligible to work in Lebanon.
