Position: Director of Psychosocial Program

Tahaddi is a Lebanese NGO established in 2008 whose aim is to respond to the challenges of extreme poverty by facilitating access to education, health and psychosocial support. Tahaddi principally works in Hay el Gharbeh, Southern Beirut with families facing extreme economic and social hardship. We operate a community-based primary care clinic and a non-formal education center for children who are denied access to formal education for social and/or economic reasons.

Tahaddi Lebanon is currently searching for a Full-Time Director for its Psychosocial Program.

 

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: Southern Beirut (Hay El Gharbeh)

Work type: Fixed-term full-time (8:00 AM- 3:30 PM)

 

Job Responsibilities

Position summary: The Director will lead the establishment of a new Psychosocial Center, managing a team of caseworkers, social workers, and psychologists. Responsibilities include managing and coordinating all psychological activities, developing and overseeing the Case Management Unit and establishing and maintaining relations with partner organizations and public institutions.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of Tahaddi’s psychosocial interventions, using results-based management;
  • Manage the psychosocial team, ensuring that all Psychosocial Center staff receive orientation and relevant trainings, as required; 
  • Develop partnerships with existing government structures, local authorities, and other implementing partners to strengthen Tahaddi’s external referral mechanism and collaborate on joint mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) initiatives;
  • Prepare internal and external donor reports, as required, providing an overview of key achievements and trends;
  • Represent Tahaddi at relevant coordination meetings;

Social Services:

  • Provide individual and group social services to community members;
  • Organize group and individual support sessions implemented by external providers;
  • Implement and facilitate psychosocial group sessions.

Child Protection Case Management:

  • Act as the main Tahaddi focal point for all child protection concerns;
  • Process and make a decision on all individual cases and referrals received;
  • Manage and direct the case management team, developing, assigning and regularly monitoring the delivery of case management services in line with SOPs and guidelines;
  • Supervise, monitor, and coordinate the work of the Case Manager and ensure that timelines outlined in action plans are followed, and that staff caseloads are manageable;
  • Conduct and/or support the Case Manager in family visits and outreach activities, as required;
  • Support and provide guidance to the case management team on complex cases, taking the lead as required;
  • Ensure that the case management team respects confidentiality and follows protocols and ethical guidelines; 
  • Conduct weekly supervision meetings to monitor progress, provide advice and address any challenges in case management;
  • Ensure that all interventions are in accordance with the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action and the Interagency Guidelines for Case Management and Child Protection.

Aid Distribution:

  • Supervise aid and relief distribution;
  • Support the design and development of vulnerability criteria and assessment protocols for aid and relief distribution;
  • Oversee the respectful and timely organization of distribution administered by the relief team, toward the provision of holistic psychosocial support to families;
  • Provide donor reports, as required, and ensure family files are updated in a timely manner to reflect aid received.

 

Job Requirements:

  • BA in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, MA is preferred.
  • At least ten years of professional experience in case management and child protection, preferably in a similar NGO context.
  • Basic knowledge of national and international legal frameworks and conventions relating to childcare and protection, and familiarity with the challenges associated with addressing children’s rights holistically with limited time/resources.
  • Experience in program management, coordination and technical assistance.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with previous supervisory experience.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English/ French.
  • Computer fluency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
