English Educator - Full Time

Tahaddi is a non-governmental organization registered under presidential decree number 1578. Tahaddi’s mission is to help and support the most socially marginalized people in Lebanon, by facilitating access to education, health and psychosocial services. Tahaddi provides holistic support to families, regardless of nationality, religion or social background.

The Tahaddi Education Center (TEC) provides educational opportunities for at-risk, out of school children in the area of Hay el Gharbeh, south of Beirut (behind the Sport City). In addition to teaching at the elementary school level, educators may also be involved in other activities such as tutoring children of the community (Homework Support Program), teaching English to youth or adults and organizing activities during the month of July.

Position title: English Educator

Reports to: English Coordinator and Director of the Education Center

Full-time position: Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 3.15 pm

Position requirements:

• Manage and educate groups of children aged 7 to 16+ as well as adults, using exciting methods and instructional materials to meet students’ needs and interests.
• Prepare evaluations in alignment with the learning objectives
• Prepare monthly and weekly plans.
• Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior and social development.
• Support children enrolled in public school with their homework
• Organize sport/ craft/cooking etc. activities based on personal interest and skills during the month of July
• Show patience and demonstrate ability to manage the class using appropriate methods.

• Maintain a safe and positive atmosphere among children.

• Work in harmony with team members.
• Show self-motivation, professionalism, enthusiasm and creativity.
• Take part in professional development opportunities.
• Be prepared to undertake any related tasks to support the activities of the education center.

Qualifications:

• BA Degree in English. Teaching Diploma is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, team spirit, sense of initiative, desire to learn, and flexibility.

• Fluency in Arabic and English.
• Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
• Nonjudgmental attitude, maturity and patience in dealing with children and community members of different backgrounds.
• Adherence to Tahaddi’s core values of justice for all, integrity and serving deprived children with compassion and respect.
