KG Special Needs Educator

We are currently looking for a full time special educator for children aged 4 to 8 years, English educated with a BA degree in Special Education.

Reports to: KG and Special Needs Coordinator

Location: Tahaddi Education Center, behind the Sport City, Southern Beirut (Hay El Gharbeh)

Work type: Full-time:37.5 hours per week between 8:00 AM- 3:30 PM (Monday-Friday)

Position skills:

• Manage and educate groups of children aged 4 to 8 according to the TEC requirements, using exciting methods and instructional materials to meet children’s varying needs and interests, involving parents as required.
• Work effectively on each of the developmental domains: social – emotional- cognitive-artistic and physical)
• Prepare monthly and weekly plans.
• Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior and social development.
• Show high level of patience in dealing with special needs students and demonstrate ability to manage inappropriate behaviors using relevant and positive methods.

• Maintain a safe and positive atmosphere between children.
• Co-teach as required from coordinator
• Prepare IEPs (Individualized Educational Programs) as required.

• Meet regularly  with the coordinator, other team members and therapists
• Work in harmony with team members.
• Show self-motivation, professionalism, enthusiasm and creativity.
• Take part in professional development opportunities
• Perform other duties of similar nature as requested by management.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in Special Education from an accredited university. 
• Willingness to work in an economically disadvantaged community and within basic facilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, team spirit, sense of initiative, desire to learn, and flexibility.
• Adherence to Tahaddi’s core values of justice, integrity and compassion, and ability to respectfully work with children, children with special needs and adults.
• Native speaker of Arabic, with fluency in English.
• Computer proficiency in Word, Excel and Power point.
