Position: Livelihoods Officer – Part-time Salaried   

Tahaddi is a Lebanese NGO established in 2008 whose aim is to empower families facing extreme poverty through the provision of education, health, and psychosocial support. Tahaddi principally works in Hay el Gharbeh, an informal settlement in Southern Beirut. Tahaddi runs a non-formal education center, a primary health clinic, and a psychosocial center. In addition, Tahaddi operates an income-generating sewing workshop.

Tahaddi Lebanon is currently hiring a Livelihoods Program Officer (LPO) who will be an essential part of Tahaddi’s Youth Transition Program (YTP). The aim of the YTP is to equip older students with the academic, social and vocational skills needed to successfully transition into further education or to the workforce.  The LPO will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the vocational learning spaces and ensure key program objectives are delivered in a timely fashion and at high-quality. The program officer will also be responsible for drafting periodic reports related to Tahaddi’s livelihoods portfolio. He/she will also contribute to drafting other programmatic reports, as requested.  

Reports to: Director of the Education Center (TEC)

Location: Tahaddi Center, Hay el Gharbeh, Southern Beirut

Work type: Part-time (salaried)

Position Summary:    Oversee the vocational learning spaces (sewing and woodworking), coordinate materials ordering and receiving, coordinate shop schedule including instructors’ schedules, course offerings and any open work times. Oversee equipment maintenance and upkeep, and implement safety policies and practices. Oversee curricula development and update based on evaluations and learnings. In addition, the PO will be responsible for all reporting related to livelihoods and vocational training activities.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee day-to-day activities of vocational learning spaces
  • Working closely with youth social worker, coordinating vocational training schedules including that of  the instructors and student courses.
  • Purchasing supplies for sewing and woodworking workshops
  • Ensuring the proper use, maintenance, and replacement of equipment
  • Implementation of safety policies and practices
  • Keep up-to-date educational records for participants
  • Overseeing curriculum versions, updating curricula based on evaluations and input from trainers
  • Contribute to the development and growth of program in coordination with wider YTP team
  • Write reports for grant partners related to VTP program and other livelihoods activities   
  • Understand and adherence to Tahaddi’s core values: Justice, Integrity, Compassion

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (MA preferred) in a related field, and/or relevant experience in program coordination
  • 5 years of related experience of which at least 3 years of experience in the NGO field
  • Knowledge of adult instructional and learning theory and principles
  • Knowledge of instructional design
  • Knowledge of training methodologies
  • Knowledge of learning management systems
  • Knowledge of competency-based assessment
  • Knowledge of program coordination and reporting
