Position: KG1 Educator
Tahaddi is a Lebanese NGO established in 2008 whose aim is to respond to the challenges of extreme poverty by facilitating access to education, health and psychosocial support. Tahaddi principally works in Hay el Gharbeh, Southern Beirut with families facing extreme economic and social hardship. We operate a community-based primary care clinic and a non-formal education center for children who did not access formal education for social and/or economic reasons.
Tahaddi Lebanon is currently searching for a KG 1 Educator to join our team.
Reports to: The Preschool Coordinator
Location: Southern Beirut (Hay El Gharbeh)
Work type: Full-time position, Monday to Friday (8:00 AM- 3:30 PM)
Job Responsibilities
- Manage, instruct and educate groups of children (aged 3), in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth using exciting methods and instructional materials to meet children’s varying needs and interests.
- Follow the official Lebanese Kindergarten curriculum, modifying it according to student needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate good knowledge of all the different developmental domains and willingness to work effectively on each of them, including social and emotional development, linguistic expression, artistic skills, physical and cognitive skills.
- Help set up an attractive, efficient and safe classroom environment for three-year-old children.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Maintain a safe and positive atmosphere between children.
- Supervise a Preschool Assistant, delegating appropriate work as necessary.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, including inter alia games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
- Write monthly, weekly and daily lesson plans.
- Meet regularly with the Coordinator and other Preschool team members. Work effectively with team members.
- Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Show patience in dealing with three-year-old students and demonstrate ability to manage misbehavior using appropriate methods.
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, and take part in parents’ awareness or positive parenting sessions.
- Take part in professional development opportunities.
- Organize summer activities during the month of July for preschoolers.
