Psychologist

Clinical Psychologist. Tahaddi Lebanon is a small local non-profit organization.  We are focused on serving families facing extreme poverty. We operate a community-based primary care clinic and an education center for children who are denied access to formal education for social and/or economic reasons. Our main centers are located in the area of Hay el Gharbeh, a shanty town near the Sports City of Beirut. Status: Part-time, 4 days per week , 8.00 to 3.30. Position Summary: The psychologist will work both at the Tahaddi community health center (THC) and at the Tahaddi Education Center (TEC). The psychologist will be responsible for providing counseling sessions for adults, children and their families.   The psychologist will facilitate group sessions for children or adult community groups including Syrian displaced people.   Areas of Responsibility: Community Health Center Provide one-on-one and family counseling sessions for adults referred by clinical staff or social workers who have a noted mental health concern. Counsel  recently arrived families who have experienced trauma or loss Facilitate sessions for community members about mental health issues, care and treatment Lead group counseling sessions to provide support in such areas as grief, stress, etc Work in close collaboration with the THC social worker on protection cases and actively participate in protection case management meetings.   Tahaddi Education Center: Counsel adults whose behavior, school progress or mental and physical impairment indicate need for assistance Organize activities to provide information, build awareness, and initiate counter actions among adolescents against high risk behavior such as violence and addiction Organize, facilitate or animate parenting sessions for the families of the TEC children. Consult with educational staff and school team members as appropriate regarding students’ needs Work in close collaboration with the TEC social worker on protection cases and actively participate in protection case management meetings.   Qualifications: We are looking for a mature, knowledgeable psychologist who enjoys working in a community setting and who has experience working with poor families who are facing complex social issues.  This psychologist must be able to work well with people from varying backgrounds, and age groups, without prejudice. He/she should be comfortable working in basic facilities. -          Trained clinical psychologist with three plus years of experience, preferably in a community setting -          Languages: Native speaker of Arabic preferred, otherwise   excellent level of spoken Arabic is necessary (Levant dialect); French and English are desirable, at least one of them at an advanced level. -          Leadership skills: Self-motivated, initiative taker, able to work both independently and in a team environment. -          Relational skills: Friendliness with all, with a positive, non-judgmental and encouraging spirit, patience and compassion, but with clear personal boundaries. -          Willingness to work in an economically disadvantaged community and within basic facilities.
