Specific Tasks:
Social Service Follow-up of Students at the Tahaddi Education Center (TEC):
- Perform home visits; develop action plans to assist TEC families/children, in close coordination with the social service team.
- Maintain visit and case history records.
- Meet daily with the TEC administrator to follow up on absent students.
- Take part in the positive discipline meetings and follow up on cases if needed.
- Refer students to the appropriate TEC services including protection, relief, mental health, speech therapy.
- Prepare and facilitate awareness sessions for parents and students.
Support for Public School Enrollment:
- Support students and parents with registration and transition to public schools.
- Follow up on achievement and discipline of students registered in public programs.
- Regularly visit public schools to keep track of students’ progress and address any problems.
- Regularly give information sessions to preschool parents about public schools and expectations.
Relief Support for at-Risk Families:
- Coordinate day to-day project activities related to the assessment and distribution of aid for families (food vouchers, household supplies etc.)ollow up on achievement and discipline of students registered in public programs.
- Counsel families and provide information about ‘rights and services’ available to families both within Tahaddi and through external partners and agencies.
- Conduct home visits to assess household needs
- Keep detailed narrative and statistics records and provide timely reports as requested
- Attend relevant meetings and trainings
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
- At least 5 years of work experience in a busy community-based setting, working with families facing considerable economic and social pressure.
- Self-motivation and ability to take initiatives and work both independently and in a team environment.
- Willingness to work in an economically disadvantaged community and within basic facilities.
- Adherence to Tahaddi’s core values of justice, integrity and compassion, and ability to respectfully work with youth and adults.
- Native speaker of Arabic, with fluency in English and/or French.
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel and Power point.
