Position Summary:
The Development Director is responsible for raising funds for the operations of Teach For Lebanon (TFL). The Development Director will also be responsible for initiating and maintaining relationships with key donors and their organizations. Development is one of the critical backbones of TFL as the organization is completely dependent on donations in its current form. The Development Director needs to be abreast with everything happening in the organization and the education sector through creating and maintaining relationships with team members and external stakeholders. The Development Director is responsible for building sustainable relationships between private bodies, corporates, foreign entities, governmental bodies and Teach For Lebanon.
The Development Director will coordinate with the PR manager at TFL and the overseas fundraising arms (TFL-US and TFL-UK) to monitor progress to targets and ensure targets are met. The Development Director works closely with the TFL board of trustees fundraising committee to identify, matriculate and engage new donors. The Development Director is expected to report to the Chief Executive officer.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Meet ambitious development goals
Identify and cultivate new and existing donors to secure donations from new streams of
funding
Drive long-term strategic planning to ensure sustainability of diverse funding base with
an objective to raise $1M per year
Leverage board members and other key constituents to reach funding goals
Create and manage development calendar
Ensure exceptional ongoing communication and cultivation of all supporters through
daily calls and weekly meetings
Prepare meeting packets, toolkits, proposals, presentations and mailings to prospects
and donors.
Write grant proposals and reports.
Develop a broad external network and profile within the philanthropic and corporate communities
Plan and execute a sequence of communications, actions and events for each donor in the portfolio to increase their understanding of and commitment to Teach For Lebanon
Organize an annual fundraising dinner in Beirut as well as various fundraising events in the GCC countries to raise awareness for TFL among the Lebanese Diaspora
Reports directly to the Fundraising Committee and the Chief Executive Officer
Work closely with Board members, CEO and local and overseas development teams to
ensure alignment of funding priorities and strategies, and of communication with
supporters
Develop and keep up to date donor data management system
Conduct donor research, cataloging and collecting information and data necessary for
grant reports, and updating proposals and supplementary materials
Build knowledge base of current and potential donors
Collaborate with TFL team members to keep abreast of programmatic developments to share with supporters and to further advance their function goals where feasible
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Graduate degree
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in client facing roles and fundraising.
Education NGOs experience ideal
English and Arabic fluency (French is a plus)
