Teacher/fellow

Teach For Lebanon recruits Fellows based on academic excellence, high levels of maturity and commitment to the mission, and their readiness and flexibility to overcome all the cultural and educational challenges of working in rural, disadvantaged schools. The two-year Fellowship entails both teaching and civic engagement aspects.   On one hand, a Teach for Lebanon Fellow: Works as a full-time teacher in one of the nation's under-privileged schools. Develops schemes of work and lesson plans in line with Teach For Lebanon 's objectives. Facilitates learning by establishing a supportive relationship with pupils and by his or her organization of learning resources and the creation of a positive classroom learning environment. Fosters the appropriate skills and social skills to enable the optimum development of children, according to age and aptitude. Challenges and inspires pupils, to help them think critically, and to deepen their knowledge and understanding. A Fellow is highly encouraged to place an equal  effort on awareness-raising and social-justice activities in the community he or she lives in. Spends extra hours during and after school to work on establishing team-building activities, projects or clubs that would help the pupils. Develops and fosters the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children, according to age aptitude. Assesses and records progress and prepare pupils for examinations. Links pupils' knowledge to earlier learning and develop ways to encourage it further, and challenge and inspire pupils to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding. Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. Observes and evaluates students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.  Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests. Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. Prepares, administers, and grades tests and assignments in order to evaluate students' progress. Confers with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems. Prepares students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks. Guides and counsels students with adjustment and/or academic problems, or special academic interests. Prepares and implements remedial programs for students requiring extra help. Enforces administration policies and rules governing students. Confers with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.   Package: Contract for two years - Salary 1000$ per month - Health Insurance - Accommodation - Opportunity for scholarship for the Master program()  Target segment: Senior students from all majors- fresh graduate students.
