About Terre des hommes Lausanne Since its creation in 1960, the mission of Terre des hommes (Tdh) has been to come to the aid of children in need. It endeavors at all times to defend the rights of children, in times of war and natural disasters, or in less publicized situations of distress. Today, the Terre des hommes Foundation is a significant force among children’s aid organizations in Switzerland and throughout the world. Tdh has development projects and emergency relief programmes in more than 30 countries in two core areas: healthcare and child protection. Every year, Tdh offers sustainable solutions and a better future for over one million children and their relatives.   Context: Implementing development and emergency response Child Protection projects in Lebanon since the 1970’s, Tdh started activities for vulnerable children and their caregivers affected by the Syrian Crisis in South Lebanon from 2012. Over the past year Tdh intervention has reached over 28,000 beneficiaries and in 2015 onwards the organization will strengthen its integrated Child Protection and Gender Based Violence program. The project implemented in two districts of South Lebanon (Tyre and Saida) include psycho-social support services including case management, awareness raising activities, distribution of relief items and capacity building of local governmental and civil society actors in the field of CP and GBV. The project is implemented in close collaboration with national and international humanitarian response stakeholders.   Based in the city of Tyre, the Project Officer will work with the project teams comprising Management staff, Program and Support Departments Officers, Social Workers, Community Mobilisers and Animators working within affected communities and alongside governmental and community based organizations.     KEY RESPONSABILITIES:   § Ensures, under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator, the proper implementation of the project § Ensures the policies and strategies of the delegation are implemented in the project management § Ensure PCM standards are followed in implementing the project § Supports and facilitate the implementation of follow-up and management tools § Produces monthly and quarterly project reports § Supports the monthly reporting to the donor (including online reporting) § Provides M&E reports jointly with the M&E Officer § Assist in coordinating across the available components of the project to ensure effective implementation of the project § Provide regular feedbacks to the Programme Coordinator & Managers on project strategies and activities § Suggest solutions to the Project Management to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the project § Monitor the sustainability of the project's results § Work on developing best practice in the project § Regularly communicate with his/her manager about the progress of his/her activities § Participate in regular meetings with the teams and within the delegation § Collaborate and coordinate with other UN agencies, government agencies, NGOs, and other partner organizations whenever needed § When necessary, stands in for the Programme Coordinator in meetings § Assist to develop evaluation plans when requested § Provides support in translation from English to Arabic and vice versa   Profile :   Education  § University degree in relevant field such as management, development studies or other related disciplines   Experience and competencies § Minimum 3 years of previous experience in a similar position in development or humanitarian projects § Good understanding of the humanitarian sector and experience in implementing humanitarian projects § Sensitized on child protection and GBV programs § Excellent coordination and communication skills § Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others § Experience in coordination with external actors § Knowledge of planning and using mixed methods § Excellent knowledge of PCM and M&E methodologies § Excellent written and spoken English § Able to deal with high workload and flexibility in working hours is necessary
