ADULT LITERACY TEACHER-NORTH BEKAA-Arsal

Objective: The Adult Literacy Teacher is responsible for delivering integrated face-to-face courses in literacy, numeracy, and life skills to adult learners. The teacher will create a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to the needs and interests of the students.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Lesson Planning:
    • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that align with adult learners' interests, abilities, and educational goals.
    • Integrate literacy, numeracy, and life skills components into the curriculum to enhance holistic learning.
    • Design engaging classroom and home assignments that reinforce course objectives and promote practical application of skills.
  2. Instructional Delivery:
    • Implement interactive teaching methods to stimulate class discussions and ensure active participation from adult learners.
    • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.

 

  1. Assessment and Feedback:
    • Develop and administer assessment methods that accurately measure adult learners' progress and achievement of learning outcomes.
    • Provide constructive feedback to students on their performance and offer guidance for improvement.

 

  1. Classroom Management:
    • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where all students feel respected and valued.
    • Maintain accurate records of attendance and promptly report any absences or concerns to relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensure that classroom materials and resources are organized and accessible to facilitate learning activities.
  2. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Submit daily timesheets and maintain accurate records of instructional hours as required by the organization.
    • Generate weekly or quarterly academic reports documenting student progress, attendance, and other relevant metrics.
    • Collaborate with program staff to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Professional Development:
    • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and follow-up meetings conducted by the organization to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices.
  4. Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including the Center Education Focal Point, Education Technical Officer, and CP in Education Officer, to coordinate program activities and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    • Contribute to the overall success of the center by actively participating in team meetings, sharing insights, and offering support as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience teaching adult learners, particularly in literacy and numeracy education.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and methodologies for adult education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and motivate learners.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and/or a foreign language (French/English) as required for the position.
  • Familiarity with assessment techniques and tools for measuring student learning outcomes.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt.
