Animator Barja, Chouf District

Intro: TDH- IT is implementing an EU- funded (‘Madad Fund’) education project, ‘Back to the Future’ in consortium with AVSI (lead agency) and War Child Holland. The consortium will support formal and non-formal activities for vulnerable preschool and school aged boys and girls (over 3 years old) in Lebanon and Jordan. Activities include; Basic Literacy and Numeracy classes, remedial classes, foreign language classes (French, English), homework support and recreational activities.  Terre des Hommes Italy (TDH- IT) is recruiting an Animator to work for the consortium in the Barja Community Center in Chouf District to support the implementation of the ‘Back to the Future’ project, aimed at building the resilience of Syrian Refugees and affected host populations through educational and recreational activities.  Job Purpose: With an anticipated start date asap, TDH IT is seeking an Animators to develop, deliver and monitor outdoor/indoor recreational and educational activities to children aged between 3 – 16 years of age: Early Childhood Education (aged 3 – 5) classes; Basic Literacy and Numeracy (ages 6 – 16) classes; Remedial (ages 6- 15) classes; Foreign Language Courses (French Language)- beginner to intermediate levels; Recreational activities (3- 16 years).  Key Responsibilities To design and carry out recreational and Child Protection activities targeting children with a high- risk level of vulnerability. To replace teachers when absent. Support the Outreach Worker with child registration and data entry on children’s activity attendance. Support the children to embark/disembark buses that are transporting them to the center. To develop a detailed monthly activity plan, indicating specifically the aim and the objectives of the activities and to closely monitor results achieved with the beneficiaries of the age groups mention above. To report on a weekly basis daily to the Center Coordinator on the activities conducted. To ensure that the beneficiaries have the possibility to participate in designing the activity, in order to express themselves and to be heard. To ensure that the beneficiaries are all involved in the activity and that there is possibility for boys and girls to work both together and in gender based groups. Dealing with difficult behaviours (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion) of children. To monitor the child’s progresses, and to identify children in need and refer special cases to the social worker as soon as identified. To participate in the trainings provided by TDH IT or consortium partners. To participate in the weekly coordination meetings. To comply with the TDH IT Code of Conduct.  Experience required: Education: University Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Communication or related field. Experience and competencies: Essential: At least 1 year of experience with NGOs in community based work; Experience in psychosocial support/recreational activities; Strong understanding of refugee issues in the current Lebanese context; Experience in community mobilization in deprived communities; Excellent communications skills, with good understanding of relevant cross-cultural issues and ability to work with refugee and host community populations; Positive, respectful attitude and collaborative approach to problem solving; Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations; Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently as well as cooperatively with team members; Capacity to work in team and flexibility to take on new tasks; Computer Literacy (Submission Guideline: Only shortlisted applications will be contacted and invited to an official interview (including test).
