Major Responsibilities:
The Area Focal Point will be responsible of:
- Participating in the design and the implementation of the monitoring process of the education activities conducted in all Palestinian camps in Lebanon where TDH IT is operative (inside and outside the Palestinian Refugees Camps of South Lebanon, Beirut, Bekaa, North Lebanon) working towards the achievement of goals and targets, including education activities, awareness creating activities, trainings and others, under the supervision and following the instructions of the Program Manager;
- Supervising the project activities directly in the places of implementation (Palestinian refugee camps of Tyre area) and maintaining relations and flow of communication with all local partners foreseen by the Program Manager;
- Ensuring active learning methodologies and child protection strategies are included in the implementation of activities, and providing technical educational support to the ongoing education activities;
- Monitoring qualitative impact of the activities, processing the information and means of verification collected, in coordination with the Programme Manager and the local partners;
- Support in designing new monitoring tools, such as basic databases systems, matrixes, excel tables, checklists, timetables;
- Checking consistency and availability of actual and new means of verification, and informing/alerting the Programme Manager in case of any inconsistency arising;
- Assisting and guiding the Local Partners in providing timely and detailed reporting (narrative, financial) of project activities to the Programme Manager;
- Participating/co-chair the project’s coordination meetings and elaborating related minutes and action points briefings;
- Participating in coordination meetings with donors, stakeholders and working groups in collaboration with the Program Manager;
- Supporting in the liaison with UNRWA and the relevant stakeholders (INGOs, Local NGOs, etc.) under the supervision of the Project Manager and the Programme Manager;
- Assisting the Programme Manager, if and when requested, in the organization of monitoring missions in all implementation areas; participating, when requested, in the organization and implementation of field surveys, needs assessments, Focus Groups, interviews and related elaboration of quantitative and qualitative data;
- Assisting the TDH IT Technical Teams in the implementation of the Education/PSS Capacity Building plan for the Partners involved in the project;
- Assisting the programme management in translating documents from Arabic to English and viceversa, when required by the conduction of the activities;
- Any other duty assigned by the Program Manager in the framework of the Education activities conducted by the Education Department of Terre des Hommes Italy in South Lebanon;

Required Profile
Education / Training
- Degree (BA, MA or PhD) in the field of Social Sciences or Education (e.g. Sociology, Education, Psychology)
- Trained and well knowledgeable of methodology of social research
- Security and hostile environment are a plus
Professional experience
- At least 5 years of professional work experience in education/PSS/capacity development with local CBOs in Lebanon
- At least 5 years of experience in working with refugees and among the Palestinian refugee camps located in Lebanon (in Tyre area specifically)
- At least 5 years of experience in monitoring and coordinating project activities
- Substantial experience in emergency and post-crisis environments
Knowledge & skills and Required Personal Characteristics (fitting into team, suitability for the job and assignment/mission)
- High-level of communication skills, including ability to speak formally, negotiate, demonstrate tact and diplomacy, and advocate for child protection issues with humanitarian community and authorities
- Proven applied knowledge of the principles of inclusive learning education methodologies
- Experience in building capacity of teams and staff at different levels and in different contexts
- Fluency in English and Arabic
- Good knowledge and use of Microsoft Office package
- Commitment to the aims, principles and values of TDH IT
- Driving licence (B)
- Ability to work well in a team, under pressure and in response to changing needs
- Flexibility to travel and support activities in other areas of implementation
- Very high sense of discretion and integrity when dealing with child protection cases
- High degree of responsibility, of taking initiatives, of having emotional stability
- The ability to prioritize a heavy workload and to delegate accordingly, and under culturally sensitive situations
