Communications Officer

Duties and Tasks:

    • To support the communications manager with designing and updating a calendar of public communications events in Europe, Lebanon;
    • To write, edit, and proof read PR content (for example media announcements, newsletters, press releases and speeches)
    • Support in organizing communications visits in Lebanon; (planning their agendas, logistics, preparing press kits, accompanying guests to project staff and writing up stories/social media posts on their trips).
    • Report on site visits (unique user numbers) relating to the project (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, project website, Terre des hommes project webpage) etc.
    • Taking pictures of events and day to day activities.
    • To Produce multi-media written communications content (either within the communication department or in collaboration with technical specialists) for the project, including but not limited to:
  • Website content (i.e. project fact-sheets, beneficiary stories/interviews, and project progress reports);
  • Social Media content. regularly posting project updates (i.e. news articles, activity/beneficiary photographs, beneficiary stories/quotes and project success stories) on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and managing user’s comments and interactions with the posts;
  • Filmed content. Identify inspiring beneficiary stories and support in produced filmed case studies in collaboration with technical specialists or alone. Writing and translating captions and subtitles.
  • Develop a body of project communications materials; project fact-sheets, case stories, events calendar.
  • Support the Lebanon Media and PR activities- contact researchers, journalists and news outlets to attend project events, visit project sites and to cover project activities in their respective publications.
  • Support the organization with its media/communication missions from the Nederland and Italy, as foreseen.
  • Any other relevant duty assigned by the line manager.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in communications or related fields.
  • Strong creative and technical writing, editing, proofreading, and including ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Self-motivated and possess excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong team working skills and flexibility
  • Expert in MS Office applications, primarily Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple projects, strong strategic planning, and effective time management skills.
  • Experience developing, executing, and evolving internal and external communications.

Desirable knowledge and experience:

  • branding and design experience
  • proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • speaking and written fluency in Arabic, English, (Italian is a plus)
  • verbal and written translation
  • taking pictures using semiprofessional camera
  • Additional experience: event organization, covering case stories with in humanitarian projects
