Education Field Officer (X 2 Posts)

Intro: TdH- It is implementing an EU- funded (‘Madad Fund’) emergency education project, ‘Back to the Future’ in consortium with AVSI (lead agency) and War Child Holland. Together, the consortium will support formal and non-formal activities for vulnerable preschool and school aged boys and girls (over 3 years old) in Lebanon and Jordan. Activities include; school rehabilitation, remedial classes, foreign language classes, homework support and PSS activities. Terre des Hommes Italy (TdH- It) is recruiting 2 x Education Field Officers to work for the consortium in Mount Lebanon region to support the implementation of the ‘Back to the Future’ project, aimed at supporting Syrian Refugees and affected host populations.     Key Responsibilities: With the Mount Lebanon Education team, establish clear targets and activity plans for each school and support teachers in implementing the remedial education curriculum. Participate in the planning of the education activities through focus groups, awareness sessions, trainings, and others; in cooperation with the Education Coordinator. Monitor the quality of educational activities, defining methodological standards and ensuring that technical quality is considered during activity implementation. Evaluate the progress in beneficiaries’ learning abilities. Write regular activity progress reports, in English, to submit to the Education Coordinator and Programme Manager. Represent the ‘Back to the Future’ consortium in local committees, working groups and cluster meetings, where appropriate. Be the consortium focal point with selected school’s principles. Supervise public schools’ adherence to child protection policy. Provide training and advice on child protection policy for teacher and relevant school staff/administration. Ensure the smooth functioning of the transportation service for vulnerable children attending remedial classes in public schools. Ensure the delivery of daily snack to vulnerable children attending activities in public schools. Organise regular CEC meetings with parents in public schools. Activate parent’s committees and facilitate their smooth running. Ensure that activities/services undertaken in public schools are carried out in compliance with consortium and EU administrative procedures and guidelines. Maintain the collection of child forms, which contain sensitive demographic information regarding the child, their placement and follow up tests, attendance record, and other information relating to the project.    Experience and competencies:   Essential:   3 years of relevant progressively responsible professional experience, including experience at field level, with at least 1 years experience working in an NGO/emergency setting. Previous experience implementing or advising on education projects in conflict-affected or post-conflict settings required, with preferred expertise in areas such as community-based education, student assessments, teacher training, curriculum and/or educational materials development, educational management, and educational monitoring and information systems. Experience in education project coordination, and monitoring; Excellent collaboration skills with local, national, and civil society stakeholders. Experience of working with Lebanese public schools to support education activities. Strong personnel leadership skills, particularly mentoring skills. Experience of working with a diverse team. Strong writing and demonstrated critical thinking skills. Ability to communicate in Arabic, fluency in English required. Computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).   Desirable: Experience of working on an EU funded project/knowledge of EU rules and regulations.
