Inclusion Education Technical Officer-Tyre and Baabda

Objective 1: Technical guidance on the planning of Inclusive Education Activities

  • Responsible for providing guidance for education staff and teachers by planning class schedules, in coordination with the project coordinator and Education Technical team;
  • Supports technically the CBOs for the recruitment of teachers when needed.
  • Provides consultations to classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptation, instructional adaptation, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plan and other instructional interventions to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Support CBOs that deliver education activities to monitor children’s progress;
  •  Train the CBOs education staff in educational methodologies, instructional techniques and monitoring tools; Observe their activities to give guidance for better quality.
  • Provide technical guidance on the implementation of the Washington Group Questionnaire to identify children with disabilities.
  • Participate in the planning of the education activities through focus groups, awareness sessions, trainings, and others, in coordination with the Education Field Activities Officer to remove barriers to learning and participation of all children.
  • Support the outreach workers in identifying the project beneficiaries, set up a specific time for the opening and closure of the activities.
  • In coordination with education personnel, plan the classroom curriculum, lesson plans, assessments and Individualized Education Plans for children with disabilities.

Objective 2: Follow up on the implementation of Inclusive Education Activities

  • Observe lessons and identifying teachers’ strengths and weaknesses.
  • Provide feedback, advice and training sessions for teachers and education team to use new/revised curriculum for different educational activities.
  • Identify gaps and challenges related to implementation of education activities and propose solutions and actions to be taken to address them through a formal action plan;
  • Determine appropriate activities that will aid the child learn as effectively as possible; planning, adapting, modifying conventional teaching methods and assessment tools to meet the individual needs of all children; developing multisensory teaching activities and resources; ensuring that classroom and extracurricular activities to encourage the participation of all children;
  • Contributes and monitors the identification and the confirmation of children with difficulties/disabilities through classroom observations and coordination with caregivers.

 

Objective 3:  Monitoring

  • Monitor the implementation of the educational activities running in the center through weekly visits;
  • Ensures the activities / services undertaken in the partners centers are carried out in compliance with TDH IT technical, Education sector and Donor procedures and guidelines;
  • Ensures the education field team is trained in the use of the monitoring tools and system;
  • Collaborate with Education specialist/Inclusion Supervisor and MEAL Officer to analyze performance of children attending education program.
  • Monitors the vulnerability need assessment including Washington Group Questionnaire.
  • Assesses children progress in coordination with MEAL officer and determines the needs for additional reinforcements or adjustments to instructional techniques.
  • Monitors the reporting of difficulties/disabilities and referrals on the IMS system done by field staff and Inclusion Assistant.

 

Objective 4: Oversees the implementation of a referral pathway for beneficiaries in need of specialized support.

  • Liaise with Inclusion Assistant, Social Workers, Area Focal Points and CBOs staff to identify available services for children/people with disabilities in the community.
  • Identify and recommend the needed specialized intervention for children with disabilities to support their retention in education.
  • Monitors the progress of the children with additional needs and liaises with facilitator, caregivers and therapists in collaboration with project staff, strengthening caregiver-facilitator partnership towards common goals;

 

Objective 5:  Reporting

  • Follow up on the collection of children pre and posttest, related to the retention project;
  • Work together with MEAL department on regular reporting requirement to ensure adherence to standards and quality data.
  • Provide timely and detailed reporting to the line managers. 

Objective 6: Meetings and external representation

  • Attend regular meetings of the education team
  • Participate to relevant technical working groups
  • Coordinate and participate and/or contribute to general training programs, workshops and expert group meetings, at organizational and consortium level;
  • Participate in other field visits, assessment and monitoring missions and donor visits as necessary.
  • And any other duties seemed relevant to the position and assigned by line manager.
