Inclusion Officer

  • Contribute to the development of a positive inclusive environment in the education centers and CBOs targeted by the project and in the community, raising awareness on inclusion in line with the methodologies and vision of the project
  • Guides the education staff and CBOs to identify pedagogic resources needed to meet the needs of children with learning difficulties and disabilities, families and communities in coordination with Education Technical Officer.
  • In collaboration with the  Education technical Officer provides training, on the job and methodological support and guidance to teachers on:

a. Early recognition of signs of difficulties and needs 

b. Determining appropriate activities that will aid the children learn as effectively as possible; planning, adapting, modifying conventional teaching methods and assessment tools to meet the individual needs of children with learning difficulties and disabilities; developing multisensory teaching activities and resources; ensuring that classroom and extracurricular activities encourage the participation of all children.

c. Mobilizing resources within the schools/centers and their communities to assist in minimizing barriers to learning and participation for all students, not only those with impairments or those who are categorized as ‘having special educational needs’. This includes participation in physical assessment of educational centers for rehabilitation aiming at improving accessibility.

  •  Upon request, contribute to the preparation of all training tools and resources, and of all publications to be produced as part of the project activities.
  • Foster mutually sustaining relationships between schools/centres and the community in a way which enhances the wellbeing and opportunities of children with disabilities
  • Contribute to the identification of children in need of specialized services and inclusive outreaching efforts.
  • Oversees the implementation of a referral scheme for beneficiaries in need of specialized support, including identification of reliable services and of suppliers who could provide needed technical aids
  • Plans activities or support measures that are specific to each student’s abilities, supports finding solution to remove barriers to learning and participation
  • Monitors the progress of the learners with additional educational needs and liaises with teachers and parents in collaboration with Tdh and CBOs  staff, strengthening parent-teacher partnership towards common goals
  • Supports the M&E Department through data collection and regular update of information concerning project beneficiaries, with emphasis on those with specific challenges/vulnerabilities, support granted to them and progress and developments recorded
  • Ensures the correct reporting on disabilities/additional needs in Activity Info, Child Level Monitoring Tool, and narrative reports.
  • Provides support and guidance to the families and ensures their engagement in family engagement activities in coordination with the CP in education officer.
  • Makes recommendations on the pathway for the child after completion of the given course of studyParticipates in education sector meetings and education sub groups meetings.
  • Coordinate with other stakeholders and NGOs providing services for children with disabilities to identify potential partnerships and collaboration to enhance TDH education activities. 
  • Establish working relationships with other agencies operating in the mission area
  • Provide timely and detailed reporting to the education specialist and provide recommendations to ensure that field-level activities effectively integrate inclusion considerations
  • Attend regular meetings of the education team
  • The Inclusion Officer will be based in Baabda, with frequent field visit

Knowledge and Competencies

- Degree in Special/inclusive Education, Education, Early child Development (ECD) or other related domains.

-    Competence and a solid commitment towards promoting inclusion, the principles of development and the organizational goals of TDH It 
-    Knowledge of models of learning and principles of effective teaching 
-    Ability to work as part of a team and to interact with diverse stakeholders 
-    Good communication skills and capacity to build consensus and promote the implementation of a shared vision
-    Fluency in written and spoken Arabic
-    Good command of written and spoken English
-    Good computer Literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
-     Bachelor Degree in Education or related field
