Research and Learning Officer

The Research and Learning Officer supports the implementation and the development of the Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR)

Objective 1: Supports the implementation and development of the Youth Participatory Action Research (PAR) project MEAL – supports the YPAR Project Manager to ensure delivery of robust and rigorous findings from the YPAR, focusing on participatory and qualitative research methodologies, tools, data collection and analysis.

Objective 2: Maintains and updates the YPAR logframe with accurate and relevant data

Objective 3: Builds and supports the capacity of the youth researchers in their field research and data collection of qualitative and quantitative data

  • Support youth researchers in using participatory youth focused research tools
  • In collaboration with youth researchers, develop and adapt for gender-responsive and inclusive tools and data collection methodologies

Objective 3: Supports and builds the capacity of youth researchers to manage data and complete relevant analysis of data collected

Objective 4: Supports youth researchers in their report writing and knowledge sharing

Objective 5: Supports youth researchers in documenting learning and developing appropriate action plans for future research

Objective 6: Report, Capitalization & Communication – Support audits and external evaluation exercises.

Objective 7: Regularly attends meetings with the MEAL and project teams and coordinates across different Department and component to ensure effective research implementation.

And any other duties seemed relevant to the position and assigned by your manager.

Recuired Knowledge and Competencies

Knowledge:

Statistics, excellent writing skills, research, working with youth and young people, Microsoft Office (especially MS Excel, data collection software (e.g., ArcGIS, KoBo, mWater, SalesForce, Solstice)

Competencies:

  • Fluent in Arabic and in English (both oral and in writing)
  • Good knowledge of the area of work
  • Capacity building of individuals and organizations
  • Participatory qualitative research would be an asset

Soft skills:

Analytical, multi-tasking skills, adaptability, organized, planning, rigor and attention to detail, autonomy and ability to use own initiative, diplomacy

Eperience

 

  • Experience of 2 years in a similar position, preferably in INGO or NGO
  • Experience working directly with youth or youth initiatives would be an asset
