INTRO
Terre des Hommes Italy, non-governmental international organization, is recruiting a Social Worker Junior to be involved in the implementation of the project “Protection for Syrian refugee children and vulnerable Lebanese girls and boys and their caregivers living in Mount Lebanon” funded by TDH NL.
JOB PURPOSE
The Social Worker Junior will closely work with local communities, NGOs, local authorities and other civic or community groups to ensure that Terre des Hommes Italia and the project programme have widespread acceptance. He/she will also facilitate achieving the impact of the project.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Social Worker will be in charge of supporting the Center Coordinator (CC) at coordinating the organization of awareness sessions/cultural events/focus group discussions in the area covered by the project
Plan and organize assessment of needs and outreach activities in collaboration with the CC, Project Officer (PO) and Project Manager (PM)
Organize regular awareness and information activities including focus group in collaboration with specialized NGOs
Refer beneficiaries in need of special care to specialized NGOs according to predefined referral pathways
Provide necessary technical support and documentation to outreach team (Outreach worker and volunteers) in collaboration with the CC, PO, PM
Perform all organizational and administrative work related to outreach team, including regular reporting to CC, PO and PM
Ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies)
Monitor protection risks and needs and identifying protection cases
Write weekly and monthly reports
Share information on field-level successes and challenges with the project team
Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the CC, PO and PM
To comply with the TDH-It Code of Conduct.
To coordinate with the TDH IT staff present in the area.
Any other task relevant to the position.
Experience and requirements
University degree in social work, or a related field.
At least 6 months of experience with NGOs in community based work, preferably protection-related projects;
Strong understanding of refugee issues in the current Lebanon context;
Experience in community mobilization in deprived communities
Good knowledge of the area/region and its local customs
Excellent communications skills, with good understanding of relevant cross-cultural issues and ability to work with refugee and host community populations;
Written and oral communication skills in English preferred;
Positive, respectful attitude and collaborative approach to problem solving;
Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently as well as cooperatively with team members;
Significant knowledge and understanding of the current political, economic, cultural and historical context of Mount Lebanon preferred;
Experience in psychosocial support activities preferred
Capacity to work in team and flexibility to take on new tasks.
Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds
Proven ability to negotiate multiple relationships with various partners.
Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations
Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
