Finance Officer

  • Implement financial policies and procedures
  • Establish, maintain and reconcile the general ledger
  • Draft all necessary administration and financial management correspondence and be responsible for follow-up
  • Collect, update and maintain financial files and records and prepare balance sheet
  • Prepare the necessary required Financial Reports at time of requesting the advance of funds on     the basis of a corresponding work plan and budget
  • Manage funds in conformity with the administrative and financial procedures of the firm
  • Assist with preparation of the budget
  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements
  • Establish new and maintain existing supplier accounts
  • Process supplier invoices
  • Maintain the purchase order system and ensure data is entered into the system 
  • Ensure transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerized accounting system
  • Receive and verify invoices
  • Process and record petty cash transactions
  • Maintain the assets register
  • Reconcile accounts
  • Submit staff time sheets for payroll processing
  • Perform any other duties as required

Finance Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration and Management, Public Administration or related field
• At least 5 years of experience in the Finance and Administration role with strong interest in the field demonstrating a strong intellectual and operational capacity
• Experience working with development partners such as WHO, EU, UNICEF and others would be an advantage;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to foster networks and partnerships and good working knowledge of information and computer technology
• Attention to detail and good time management self- organizational skills with an ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues in a responsible and mature manner;
• Strong interpersonal skills; commitment to team work and to working across disciplines, cultures and stakeholders at all levels
• Maturity and confidence in dealing with senior and high- ranking members of national institutions, government and non- government
Accounting Experience:
• At a minimum of 3 years of accounting experience including data processing, document preparation and reconciliations;
• Strong financial reporting skills and excellent communication (verbal and written) skills;
• Good technical literacy and report writing skills; confident numeracy skills, including use of excel; good time management and realistic approach to deadlines;
• Previous exposure to project accounting will be highly regarded.
