UNV Analysis and Research Assistant (Assignment reserved for People with Disabilities)

Eligibility Criteria: The minimum age of the applicant should be 27 years and up to 80. The candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

Under the direct supervision of the Data and Research Officer and the overall supervision of the Head of Programmes, the UN Volunteer will be responsible to support on data collection and analysis, as well as leading research around the topics of migration drivers and local economic development. More specifically, the selected candidate will:

1.    Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of data collection and anal-ysis activities related to drivers of irregular migration and local economic development opportunities in Lebanon, in line with the agreed upon work plan and relevant project descriptions.
2.    Lead on the development and implementation of research tools such as area-based assessments of available services, a labour market assessment and desk review, and in accordance with global standards and methodologies.
3.    Proactively identify research needs, requirements, and analysis needs and develop ac-tion plans to address these gaps.
4.    Assist in the analysis of assessment results and the production of information prod-ucts, to inform evidence-based advocacy and programming.
5.    Provide support to report on available and analysed data collected through the Mi-grants Presence Monitoring (MPM) and, where relevant, other data collection tools, such as to inform project planning.
6.    In collaboration with DTM staff, contribute to the training of enumerators and other data collection staff.
7.    Undertake duty travel relating to data collection assessment, liaison with counterparts and problem solving, as required. IOM will provide suitable transportation means in those cases.
8.    Any other duties that might be assigned.

As an integral part of the IOM Lebanon mission, the UN Volunteer will:
•    Gain experience across the full cycle of an assessment ranging from planning and co-ordination, data collection, while maintaining a focus on report development and dis-semination.
•    Gain experience in an international organization, including management and interna-tional cooperation activities, as well as understanding the dynamics of national and re-gional initiatives and working groups.
•    Further develop research and analysis skills on topics linked to migration, economic development, and community stabilization.
•    Strengthen his/her knowledge on digital data collection tools, data analysis and data visualization.
•    Participate in the development of IOM’s research and data collection portfolio on local economic development and irregular migration.
•    Gain experience in working with governmental, non-governmental and United Nations institutions in Lebanon.
