UNV Business Support Assistant (Nutritionist)

UN Entity: WFP

Assignment Context:

This UNV assignment is part of WFP Lebanon – nutrition unit working on mainstreaming nutrition-sensitive programming across programme activities. Investments in nutrition-specific interventions to avert maternal and child undernutrition and micronutrient deficiencies through community engagement and delivery strategies that can reach poor segments of the population at greatest risk can make a significant difference. If this improved access is linked to nutrition-sensitive approaches across multiple sectors such as—i.e, women's empowerment, agriculture, food systems, education, employment, social protection, and safety nets—they can greatly accelerate progress in countries with the highest burden of maternal and child undernutrition and mortality. The UN Volunteer will support the nutrition unit in the implementation of its nutrition-sensitive programming initiative for programme activities targeting food insecure refugees, extremely poor Lebanese communities, school-age children, and participants in livelihood and resilience programmes that seek to build resilience, assets and human capacity.

  • Assist Head of Nutrition in reviewing candidates from the Food System Challenge with the Livelihoods unit through Berytech.
  • As part of the team, the UNV will support the Head of Nutrition and nutrition assistant TDY in developing the three main thematic areas identified as priorities with the school based programme (SBP) unit : education, evidence generation, and partnerships.
  • Assist the Head of Nutrition in updating the nutrition directory and ensuring the nutrition folder is up to date, clean and organized as needed to ensure smooth access to various documentation.
  • Assist the Head of Nutrition in the development of the Lebanon CO nutrition strategy.
