UNV Education Programme Associate (TYRE)

Under the direct supervision of the Education Programme Officer, the National UN Youth Volunteer will be supporting with the below:

1. Knowledge Management for Programmes
• Contribute to country programmes by supporting knowledge management through providing professional assistance in data collection and analysis, complete and accurate reporting as well as participation in the Programme Knowledge Network system of "lessons learned" and other corporate-level databases.
• Participate in information exchange with partners when necessary.
• Continuous Mapping and update for existing civil and local organizations / community groups working in Education especially those who proved their efficiency during COVID 19 and the financial crisis.
2. Programme Development and Follow up
• Provide technical assistance in the preparation of the Situation Analysis for Education programme development and management by collecting and analysing data and monitoring implementation progress of Education activities.
• Draft or participate in preparing programme work plans as required.
• Propose adjustments/changes in work plans.
• Propose program recommendations for inclusion in formal programme documentation, and new approaches, methods and practices for supervisor.

3. Programme Monitoring and Evaluations
• Undertake field visits to monitor and assess programme implementation and decides on required corrective action.
• Undertake face to face or remote programmatic visits depending on COVID-19 situation in Lebanon to ensure programme implementation and advise on possible adaptable approaches to be used with consultation with the Education Officer.
• Collaborate with partners to carry out a rigorous and transparent approach to evaluation.
• Participate in the major programme evaluation exercises in consultation with the Education Programme Officer and others to improve efficiency and quality of programme delivery.
• Participate in annual sector review meetings with government counterparts.  Collaborate and prepare annual program status reports in a timely manner, as required.
• Follow up on internal referrals and inform different partners and stakeholders of relevant Education pathways.

4. Partnership, Coordination and Collaboration
• Facilitate partnership and collaboration with internal and external counterparts in order to improve the ability to collect and disseminate development data and information, exchange information on programme/project status and implementation and movement/distribution of supplies.
• Attend and Support Education Sector Meeting in Central & South by preparing the meetings, taking notes, and supporting during the delivery.
• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day).
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country.
• Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.  
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers.
• Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, Education and Training, Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or other relevant disciplines.
• At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national level on the whole cycle of education programme/ project implementation. Strong experience on programme/ project monitoring on non-formal education, inclusive education, basic numeracy and literacy programme/ project are required.
• Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
• Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.
• Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
• Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.
• Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
• Sound security awareness.
• Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
