Assignment Context:
Financing is a key driver in implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, guided by the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (AAAA). As ESCWA prepares for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), the focus is on assessing progress, addressing challenges, and supporting the transition to sustainable, SDG-aligned financing frameworks.
Task description:
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Economics Affairs Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:
-Leverage various Machine Learning Techniques to project nationally determined priorities and their respective landing zones by 2030 for ESCWA member States.
-Employ and/or build a Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) to project prime financing channels at the national level for ESCWA member States.
-Develop a nowcasting dynamic model/apparatus to capture prime financing flows in ESCWA member States.
-Collect data and conduct research on socioeconomic and financing issues.
-Undertake dataset compilation, analysis and cleaning.
-Prepares a variety of tables, lists, charts, and generate graphs, figures, and fact sheets on the different aspects of financing for development.
-Provide support in drafting and updating of documents and analytical summaries.
-Support in the preparation of literature reviews, research papers and presentations.

- Knowledge of the United Nations is a desirable.

AAs this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in (Beirut). National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
