Knowledge Management Officer (Re-Advertised)

PURPOSE OF THE POSTUnder the general guidance of the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, supports the data and knowledge management function for external of the office for internal and external communication purposes. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Support good information flows and provision of up-to-date information as required, and maintain an overview of key points for advocacy efforts. Ensure key policy and advocacy issues on UNICEF’s programmes in Lebanon and the emergency response are represented, to ensure that UNICEF and staff are in the best position for effective advocacy on behalf of children. 2.Design and develop factsheets, infographics, briefing notes, presentations and high quality reports that communicate results for children.3.Promote knowledge management and ensure facilitation of knowledge building and management for LCO, and support the use of innovations for effective information-sharing within the office and with external partners, donors, and counterparts.4.Maintain and update existing information management tools and systems (eg, the Lebanon Country Office SharePoint, team site). WORKING CONDITIONS Office-based post with some travel within the country.  IMPACT AND CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR (a)Type of decisions regularly made and the impact of those decisions.Technical and administrative decisions are regularly made on programme planning to ensure that effective and timely programme delivery meets targeted goals and objectives. (b)Type of recommendations regularly made and why they are important.Makes recommendations on programme/project plan feasibility and management; linkages with other sectors, reprogramming and adjustments, external technical assistance and resource requirements. (c)Most damaging error(s) that could be made in the performance of the work and their consequences.Inappropriate programme planning will lead to ineffective implementation of the programme, thus impeding the achievement of goals and objectives, and misuse of financial resources.Ineffective coordination with government and other partners will negatively affect the implementation and acceptability of UNICEF intervention. INDEPENDENCE (Degree of direction or management guidance the incumbent receives from the immediate supervisor)Supervision is limited to guidance on overall framework and organizational policy. Incumbent is expected to perform independently and consults with supervisor when major decisions and actions must be undertaken. Experience working for an operational UN agency or NGO is desirable. c)LANGUAGES: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
