Highlights
- An estimated 5.97 million people are currently in IPC Phase 3 or worse, including 28,000 in Phase 5 (Catastrophe). Projections indicate this could rise to 7.56 million during the 2026 lean season, with 3.26 million women and children acutely malnourished or at risk.
- Armed conflict has displaced 322,000 people since January, while floods have affected over 1 million and uprooted 355,000, destroying homes, schools, and health facilities across several States.
- The prolonged cholera outbreak, declared in October 2024, remains a severe public health emergency, with 96,003 cases and 1,589 deaths reported across 55 counties in nine states and three Administrative Areas as of 31 October. New cases are now declining thanks to intensified containment efforts, though risks remain high in flood - affected areas.
- UNICEF’s Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) appeal remains critically underfunded - only 31 per cent of the required $278.2 million has been received, leaving urgent needs unmet and significantly constraining response capacity.
