Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Building Maintenance Unit sub-unit of the Facility/Events Maintenance Unit under the Engineering & Facility Maintenance Section (EFMS) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Naqoura. The incumbent will report to the Supervisor of the Building Maintenance Unit or his/her designate.
Responsibilities
1. Carries out scheduled periodic and emergency maintenance services on Mission's overhead, underground and building installations.
2. Consults supervisor in determining effective engineering maintenance solutions for problems arising during the works and to convey to project personnel the best alternatives and solutions locally available (materials, resources).
3. Provides daily feedback on ongoing maintenance projects while ensuring quality and works progressing in accordance to assigned specifications.
4. Assists the supervisor in evaluating the functional needs of requesting departments in terms of maintenance of spaces and/or related equipment.
5. Provides brief input on the performance of staff and/or contractors in writing. Where deviations occur, must take initiative in submitting observations in short term format to supervisor in timely manner.
6. Coordinates after office moves: sets up moving schedules, issues moving work-orders, informs security, transportation and elevator services of these moves.
7. Provides assistance to the unit supervisor in reviewing all incoming requests for maintenance works and in deciding on the priority of works.
8. Provides support for inspection of areas of the complex to ensure use and identify safety
standards and equipment for maintenance works.
9. Coordinates maintenance and/or construction projects and liaises with shops or contractors and operation section, identifying maintenance and/or construction problems and providing solutions.
10. Surveys areas to be maintained and/or developed in coordination with other units/sections involved: locations of partitions, telephones, electrical and LAN outlets, and finalizes proposal for implementation of work.
11. Assists the supervisor in the commissioning of maintenance works in coordination with Safety & Security.
12. Validates requests for installation or removal of telephones and electrical outlets.
13. Compiles documentary evidence on accidents.
14. Ensures that projects meet safety and security standards by reviewing them with designated Safety and Security officials.
15. Performs other duties as required including emergency call-out and standby duties.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job Specific Qualifications
A valid driving license type (B) is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of practical experience with an organization or a company in general construction/engineering services or facilities maintenance/management is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 3 for candidates who possess a first- level university degree or higher.
Hands-on experience for the implementation of construction, infrastructure, and maintenance projects is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
