Communication Manager / Producer

Responsibilities by sector of activity

A) Strategy and planning

Develop communications strategy and monthly/quarterly content calendar aligned with advocacy priorities, membership activities, and grant commitments.

Define channel roles and cadence (social, web, newsletter, podcast, video).

B) Editorial workflow and production management

Run workflow from ideation to publication: briefs, assignments, deadlines, review/approvals, publishing, and archiving.

Coordinate production across formats and contributors; ensure quality control and on-time delivery.

C) Podcast Production

Editorial planning: episode plan aligned to priorities; guest outreach; approvals for sensitive topics.

Manage podcast production team: record/edit/mix/master; show notes; promo clips.

Distribution: choosing podcast snippets, managing editing, and publishing them.

Safety/consent: consent management, anonymization where needed, duty of care.

Archiving: raw + final backups, naming conventions.

D) Social media and distribution

Plan and manage social media publishing; implement scheduling rhythm and breaking news protocol.

Build relationships with traditional media outlets to place UJL content and statements; maintain distribution lists.

e) Network activation and targeted outreach

Activate member network and partners for amplification; coordinate targeted outreach to journalists, CSOs, and policymakers.

Support systematic engagement on media law and sector priorities, with Management/Legal.

F) Ethics, risk, crisis management and quality assurance

Ensure adherence to UJL ethics/deontology; coordinate Legal review and approvals for sensitive content.

Manage crises communication promptly and in adherence with the union’s principles, coordinate with relevant team members for production deliverables

Communicate crises with committee members and ensure timely crisis response

G) Analytics and learning

Track analytics and report monthly insights with recommendations; adjust content approach based on learning.

H) Core deliverables 

Internal Newsletter monthly

Internal and External yearly wrap-up newsletter

Podcast: up to 12 episodes/year 

Video: up to 2 video reports per month 

Statements with visuals (consistent packaging)

Coverage of activities (member activities, trainings, advocacy moments) with evidence packs

Social Media presence and visibility

Required qualifications and experience

5+ years communications/journalism/editorial production; proven coordination leadership.

Arabic/English writing and editing; portfolio required.
