Accountability - The office is kept informed of local developments of interest to UNHCR. - Evolving issues concerning displaced persons and refugees are monitored to be able to suggest stories and topics for the media coverage. Responsibility 1. Establishes and manages external relations activities of the Field Office; 2. Provides interviews to the local media and background briefings to the international media. 3. Keeps track of evolving issues concerning displaced persons and refugees to be able to suggest stories and topics for the media to cover 4. Provides daily briefings on local developments to the Head of Office and ensures that briefing materials from other offices are available 5. Accompanies visits of foreign delegations and the media to refugee sites in the region, giving appropriate briefings, commentaries and prepares briefing material for visitors. 6. Establishes contacts with local organizations to promote general interest and understanding of refugee issues 7. Ensures that the office is kept informed of local developments which may have a political or operational impact on the office's activities. 8. Compiles information and SitReps received from the Field Offices and consolidates into a weekly SitRep emanating from the Sub-Office. 9. Advises the Head of Office of local aspects of external relations policies 10. Performs other duties as required. Authority - Establish contacts with local organizations to promote general interest and understanding of refugee issues. - Have access to UNHCR Communication /PI systems.
