Review and approve newborn children to be added onto parent registration files at UNHCR

Counsel on birth registration procedures

Identify cases in need of support with competent authorities in completing the process of birth registration and refer them to UNHCR for the necessary follow-up. 

Report on add-on activities conducted 

Contribute to the analysis of data on trends and challenges faced by displaced persons during the process of birth registration, including documentation. 

Contact parents of new-born babies registered at UNHCR between 2011 and 2019 based on a birth notification and work closely with MoIM and legal actors to support the children who still have not completed the process in completing their birth registration

Identify, in UNHCR Reception Centres, Syrian babies whose parents were not able to obtain neither birth notification nor birth registration because the delivery took place, for example, under the assistance of uncertified midwives and refer them to UNHCR for the necessary follow up

Safely identify and refer persons at heightened risks such as SGBV, CP and other groups identified at UNHCR Reception Centers existing referral pathways in coordination with UNHCR

Submit a monthly report to the General Supervisor.

Perform any other relevant task, as assigned by the Regional Coordinator or General Supervisor

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

University Degree in Social Sciences, law, Social work, Sociology, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Social Anthropology or any other related field. A Master's degree is a plus

3+ years of experience in related field

Ethical and transparent decision-making

Patience and the ability to remain calm in a crisis

Flexibility to adapt to new roles, tasks, and situations

Experience in project implementation, monitoring, and report writing

Skilled in working with people of all ages and social groups

Excellent communication and reporting skills

Skilled at working with local communities and authorities

Proficiency in the use of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Ability to cope and work under pressure

Dynamic, self-motivated, conscientious, professional, devoted, honest, and discreet

Excellent intercultural, teamwork, and interpersonal skills

Respect of confidentiality and data protection protocols
