The position is based in UNHCR Sub-Office in Zahle. The main instrument for information management unit in Bekaa is to provide support to Inter-Agency Coordination and humanitarian partners in terms of geo-information support, information co-ordination and dissemination. The IMU produces GIS maps and other graphic presentations, using primary and secondary data on various themes. It also coordinates data collection and data processing; provides data services and information management advice and mapping services to UN Agencies and partners; and supports the dissemination of the information to the wider development and humanitarian community. These products include inter alia: Rapid Needs Assessment Map, Quarterly Sector Factsheets, Sector Maps (Static and Dynamic).
Under the direct supervision of OCHA Information Management Officer and overall supervision of the Head of the UNHCR Sub-Office in Zahle, the Information Management Intern will support in their information management needs. S/he will be responsible for maintaining, updating and developing information related to the IMU. The Information Management Intern works in close collaboration with the team members from other units of the UNHCR Bekaa and specifically support the Information Management Officer to produce geo-referenced data analysis and mapping.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support office in collecting and ensuring information is up-to-date;
Provide Access to users in Activity Info.
Support in maintaining, and extracting data.
Assist in the preparation of meeting minutes, presentations, working papers and tables for briefing and review sessions;
Produce various information products as required;
2. Support office in networking with partners;
Develop and maintain the network of partners to gather, maintain and produce wide range of information products;
Facilitate the meetings with partners related to monthly IMWG in Bekaa.
3. Assist in design, develop and maintain databases;
Assists in designing and developing database management systems, monitoring tools and data collection tools/templates
Maintain various databases such as Who is Doing What Where(3W), Operational Space, Security Incidents, Disaster Database; and
Promote Data Readiness and Common Data Repository.
5. Any other activity as reasonably requested by the supervisor;
Undertake other duties that may be required by the Head of Office, or Information Management Officer
Participate in field mission related to mapping Informal Settlements.
