Media Advisor - Ministry of State for Displaced Affairs

Under the supervision and in collaboration with H.E. Minister of State for Displaced Affairs, the Media Advisor will perform the following tasks:

 

  1. Assisting in the identification of the ministry's messages, in disseminating and highlighting the ministry’s activities and achievements.
  2. Developing a communication strategy in consultation with the State for Displaced Affairs Ministry team which includes setting the goals and priorities, at the short, medium and long term.  Translating it to an action plan.
  3. Presenting daily briefing on media coverage about displaced affairs for the minister office, and the issues that need follow up or clarifying the stance of the ministry.  
  4. Brainstorming with the minister team before giving any interview to media outlet, and identify the talking points. 
  5. Manage the work of communications team and provide guidance and assign responsibilities to prepare draft content (e.g. press releases, etc.) for mass media or ministry website, leaflets, fact sheets, reports on studies for public release as news items. 
  6. Copy editing and proof editing all news items.
  7. Develop timelines, calendars of events and priorities, which include organizing press conferences and scheduling interviews and media tours to camps and hosting communities of the displaced Syrians.
  8. Contact press attaché in embassies and international organizations to inform them about the ministry initiatives and coordinate relevant activities.   
  9. Lead media outreach in the country working closely with national, regional and international media.
  10. Use communication tools and various types of media, including digital and social media to promote the ministry work in the country with special attention on impact through media outreach.
  11. Encouraging journalists to highlight on success stories of displaced (within UN together campaign for refugees and displaced).
  12. Preparing with the Communication Team periodical appearances for the Minister as well preparing periodical e-newsletter reflecting analytical approaches, data and policy guidelines with all national and international partners.
  13. Preparing all needed startup steps for the website
  14. Review progress and or revise deadlines and prepare crisis control plan.
  15. Perform other duties as required by the Minister
