UNHCR delivers health assistance to registered refugees living in Lebanon who are in need of medical treatment and cannot afford it by themselves.  An Exceptional Care Committee (ECC) has been established to review all medical cases who apply for medical assistance. UNHCR is looking to recruit three Medical Doctors who can work on a part-time basis as consultants, in the following specialities: cardiology, orthopaedics, and neonatology.   The responsibilities of the Medical Doctors will be: Review emergency cases via email and revert back to UNHCR within 24 hours according to the identified needs and prognoses of the cases. Be able to answer phone calls from the UNHCR’s Public Health Unit (PHU) for urgent medical advice. Meet on a biweekly basis to discuss cold cases based on cost and prognosis of treatment. Decision Criteria The committee reviews each case with its own decision criteria. Necessity, adequacy, and duration of the suggested treatment Necessity of assistance (financial vulnerability) Feasibility of the treatment plan Prognosis Cost Eligibility (registration)  Age and other concomitant diseases   Remuneration Each medical consultant will receive a fixed lump sum of USD 2,000 at the end of the month.
