- Assist functional units, the Multi-Functional Team (MFT) and senior management to integrate participatory and community-based approaches in the overall protection delivery strategy.
- Assist in initiatives with host communities to involve national civil society groups in the protection of persons of concern, in particular women.
- Support implementing and operational partners as well as with displaced and local communities to develop community-owned activities to address, where applicable, the social, educational, psycho-social, cultural, health, organizational and livelihood concerns, focusing on the mobilization of the communities including through activities in the community centers and prevention and response to SGBV through creation of working groups, SOPs, referral pathways,
- Assist in developing and implementing women empowerment programmes; encourage creation of effective women groups and identify women focal points. Carry out Focus groups discussions on GBV with men, women, boys and girls and ensure a proper outreach to women at risk and potential GBV survivors and insure that women are represented in all decision making structures.
- Assist in analysing protection risks and capacities of communities of concern, including through management of individual cases. Conduct individual counseling to refugees and refer them to available and appropriate social support/care and ensure follow-up as based on the genuine needs of the refugees seeking UNHCR assistance and to the guidelines and procedures agreed with the agencies concerned. Place special attention to persons with specific needs. Ensure that instances of counseling and/or referral of individuals are duly recorded in existing database systems and reports are drafted.
- Support participatory assessments by multifunctional teams and ongoing consultation with persons of concern. Liaise on a regular basis with the refugee community outreach workers and committees, as well as other groups, with the aim to assist them in identifying their own needs, establishing priorities and meeting these needs.
- Collect data for monitoring of programmes and budgets from an AGD perspective, including reporting on incidents of GBV.
- Draft and type routine correspondence, documents and reports using word processing equipment and maintain up-to-date filing systems. Contribute to the regular reporting requirements on community services related issues.
- Support efforts to build the office, partners and refugees’ capacity for community-based protection.
