Accountability (key results that will be achieved)
- UNHCR Area Offices in Bekaa, the North, Beirut/Mount Lebanon, and the South, have the support they need to ensure efficient and effective assistance to persons of concern, either from UNHCR’s own resources or from other agency resources, in compliance with the guidance agreed at the relevant Sector Coordination Working Group, and with UNHCR’s policies procedures.
- Local liaison with other UN Agency and NGO partners effectively supports coordination activities.
Responsibility (process and functions undertaken to achieve results)
- Provide secretarial support to the Protection Sector and particularly to the national Protection Working Group in Beirut, including preparing meeting minutes, keeping recipients' list updated, drafting support materials for meetings, organize and provide logistic support including translation support.
- Support the sector coordinator in drafting guidelines, strategies and other documents, with particular reference to legal issues, in cooperation with UNHCR and the members of the legal partners’ forum at Beirut level.
- Participate in relevant meetings or events at Beirut level as requested, and provide relevant verbal and written feedback to the coordinator on issues of relevance for the protection sector, including protection mainstreaming.
- Liaise with sector partners as requested by the Coordinator.
- Support the SGBV Task Force and the Child Protection WG as agreed by the Coordinators.
- Participating in the PWG at field level as required and update to the sector coordinator on discussions and relevant developments.
- Support the Protection Sector Coordinator in ensuring good communication between the PWG Chairs in the field and the national PWG in Beirut through regular contacts with the field.
- Follow-up with thematic working groups in the field (e.g. legal partners meeting, meetings on evictions etc.)
- Monitor of media and public/ Governmental sources, with particular reference to Arabic sources; extract, consolidate and share relevant information for the protection, CP and SGBV WGs on a regular basis for information and analysis.
- Support the coordinator in mapping exercises, in cooperation with the Information Management Unit.
- Undertake daily monitoring of the Lebanon Web-Portal and liaison with the Information Management Unit for sector updates, checking consistency, providing documents to be posted etc.
- Support the sector coordinator in the review and the reporting of sector partners on Activity Info.
- Translate relevant documents, articles, legal texts from Arabic into English.

- Draft reports for clearance by the Senior Protection Coordinator.
- Organise coordination meetings.
- Gather and analyse protection information from UNHCR, partners and media.
